What is the hotel’s cancellation policy?

Resort stay guests:

Reservations must be canceled at least 14 days prior to your scheduled arrival to avoid forfeiting your deposit. Guests who choose to depart early remain responsible for the full cost of all remaining booked nights.

Guided retreat guests:

Cancellations for Wild Rice hosted retreats made more than 60 days before the start date receive a refund less a $250 fee; cancellations within 60 days are non-refundable. For all other guided retreats, cancellation policies vary by individual retreat leaders, who must be contacted directly.

If Wild Rice Retreat cancels a retreat:

If Wild Rice Retreat cancels a hosted retreat because minimum guest counts are not met 30–45 days prior, guests receive a full refund. The retreat is not responsible for guest travel expenses, so purchasing independent travel insurance is highly recommended.

Is the front desk staffed 24 hours a day?

No, the front desk operates from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM, with hours extending seasonally during the summer. For urgent needs outside of these regular hours, guests can use the 24-hour staffed emergency phone located on the property to reach a team member.

Guests must be at least 18 years old to check in. A valid government-issued photo ID and a credit card are required upon arrival.

We are an adult-focused property welcoming guests ages 16 and older, with exceptions only for infants under 18 months. Children between the ages of 18 months and 16 years cannot be accommodated, and no exceptions apply to this policy.

Your stay includes Scandinavian-inspired accommodations, daily Ayurvedic-inspired meals, complimentary movement and wellness classes, and 24-hour access to the SaunaHaus & Rain Room. Private sessions such as massage and personalized energy work are available for an additional fee.

We encourage guests to research travel insurance. We are not responsible for travel cancellations caused by weather, natural disasters, or government-mandated emergencies.

No, the Bayfield area does not have taxi services, Uber, or Lyft. Guests can rent cars at the Duluth or Minneapolis/St. Paul airports, rent e-bikes locally through Howl Adventure Center, or walk into town via the 1.5-mile Brownstone Trail.

Unlike a standard hotel, we include daily wellness classes—such as yoga, meditation, and cooking demonstrations—and lack in-room televisions to maintain a quiet atmosphere. Guests may choose a self-curated resort stay or participate in an instructor-led guided retreat, depending on the experience they are seeking.

We enforce mandatory quiet hours from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM daily to ensure peaceful enjoyment for everyone. Guests must refrain from playing loud music or causing disruptive noise at all times.

No, we do not have an indoor or heated outdoor swimming pool. Our entire thermal therapy program is centered around the on-site SaunaHaus and Rain Room facilities.
